I love getting out of work. At the video store I worked at in Nebraska, the big outing was going up the street to take accidentally-dropped-off videos back to the competition. When I was working at the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument, our great outing was to North Platte to a tourism conference which was mostly a wine tasting. Although there was drinking, it was still work because I was surrounded by people that I usually wouldn't be social with. Today, I got a fun road trip with my housemate on the company dollar to Eugene.
It wasn't even planned but I just asked my boss if I could go along when Ashes went to check out the stores in Eugene to see how they provide work for their participants and she said it was no problem. We even got to take the company jeep (mmmm, heated seats) and have lunch on the company dollar. I love my job!
Lately, the boys in the band :) have been giving me static about putting my job before touring but with the economy and the job market the way it is, I can't afford to lose this job. Plus, I don't want to. It's rewarding both in a-sense-of-accomplishment sort of way and with the money and perks. I'll never go back to retail!
